DR. KHATAMI
Dr. Khatami is a board certified specialist in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics. She received her certificate in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics from the University of Rochester, New York and her PhD in craniofacial biology from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. After completing her PhD program, Dr. Khatami moved to Fort Lauderdale and joined the Department of Orthodontics at Nova Southeastern to serve as an associate professor, mentoring orthodontic residents throughout their postgraduate program.
Dr. Khatami believes in early recognition and treatment of skeletal and dental problems with an emphasis on facial and smile esthetics. Working closely with dentists and other dental specialists and using her over ten years of clinical experience, she offers personalized treatment plans to patients of all ages. To produce outstanding results, Dr. Khatami combines traditional orthodontic treatment with advanced treatment techniques including clear aligners such as Invisalign, Temporary Anchorage Devices (TADs), and accelerated tooth movement (Propel).
Dr. Khatami has instructed and mentored many orthodontic residents throughout their postgraduate program at Nova Southeastern University and is actively involved in several national and international dental and orthodontic organizations. She has also been appointed by the American Dental Association to join the test construction committee and take part in the development of the National Dental Board Examinations.
Dr. Khatami has authored several scientific articles and book chapters and serves as a reviewer for papers submitted to various international dental conferences and journals. Her dedication to research has earned her several scholarships and awards from the American Association of Orthodontists Foundation, American Dental Education Association, and International Association for Dental Research. Her professional memberships and affiliations include the American Association of Orthodontists, Southern Association of Orthodontists, International Association for Dental Research, American Dental Education Association, American Dental Association, Florida Dental Association, and the Angle Society of Orthodontists.
